Welcome 2019 - 2020 Students!
Here are the things you can expect in your lessons in our studio:
Throughout the year we will work on music that helps you grow. This can be very different from student to student. Basic fundamental items will be scales (lots of scales), etudes, orchestral music, and solo repertoire. Audition music for band/orchestra will be a priority upon the seasons. Participation in your district solo and ensemble contest is greatly encouraged!
Opportunities to play through audition music or etudes for your peers will be given as well as celebrating the year of hard work!
Each year we will make it our intention to have each player able to perform individually. Beyond the bandroom is the idea! Sharing your talent is a great way to grow and good motivation! We hope to gather as a studio at the end of the year to share a piece that has been polished.
Please be mindful of the studio policy throughout the year and keep us all updated with your concerts and activities via our FB page HB Oboe Studio. We also have a listening channel on YouTube for memorizations.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
All the best,
The Studio Policy

Lessons are given in semester time frames.
Semester 1 is September through December (14 Lessons)
Semester 2 is January through May (19 Lessons)
Summer Lessons are June through August (9 Lessons)
Students beginning lessons in the fall will have a reserved scheduled weekly lesson time during the school year with the option to change the time during the summer (vacation) schedule.
Complete preparation of the materials studied in the lesson is expected from each student. A notebook is required for lesson notes and plans.
Parents, guardians, grandparents, nannies, mannies... are welcome to listen to lessons and take notes. Helping younger students be productive during their practice time is very encouraging to the student and promotes the best results.
Students signed up for semester lessons are allowed one make-up lesson each semester only in the event of illness or emergency in the family.
Conflicts with other events should be rescheduled at a mutually agreed upon time as soon as the conflict is known.
This applies to both student and teacher. Any cancellations by the teacher will be made up as soon as possible at a mutually agreed upon time.
Notification of not being able to attend a lesson should be made no later than one day prior to the lesson day. Notification on the day of a lesson for reasons other than illness or an emergency in the family will not be refunded or rescheduled for the lesson not received.
Lessons are billed via PayPal or invoiced or through the website prior to the first lesson of the month.
Payment for the month is expected at the first lesson of each month. A 10% discount is given to lesson tuition paid on a semester basis rather than monthly.
